Act Now to Encourage Health Reform Discussions and Elimination of Caps in Final Health Reform Bill

We need you to call or write your Representative TODAY to ask him or her to continue to work to pass health reform.  Given recent political events, some say that health reform legislation is now too difficult to pass and should be abandoned.  However, people affected by bleeding disorders need health reform.  Please urge your Representative to continue working to pass health reform.  Also ask him or her to support the strongest possible patient protections in the final bill, including the elimination of lifetime and annual caps in all health insurance plans.

Please call and write your Representative TODAY.  You can reach the Congressional switchboard at: 1.866.220.0044.  All you have to do is tell the operator where you live and you will be connected with your Representative's office.  You can use the draft e-mail below to write to him or her as well

Subject: Please Keep Working on Health Reform, Eliminate Lifetime & Annual Limits in Final Health Reform Bill

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I live in your district and I am affected by hemophilia. I strongly support the private insurance reforms included in the health reform bills, particularly those related to lifetime and annual limits. Some say that it is now too difficult to pass comprehensive health reform. But, families like mine need health reform. I urge you to continue to work to reform our nation's health insurance system.

Please support the elimination of lifetime and annual caps in all health insurance plans. These limits pose a considerable problem for people affected by a high-cost condition like hemophilia. Patients who exceed their annual or lifetime limits are forced to find other ways to pay for medical costs, such as paying more out of pocket, finding new insurance, changing jobs or worst of all, curtailing or going without the medical care they need.

Families like mine cannot wait for lifetime and annual caps to be prohibited. The time to act is now.

Thank you for your consideration,
